CS2 First Gameplay Impressions, Bugs, Memes - Hellcase Blog

The Limited Test of the newest Counter-Strike 2 is at full blast. Professional players, streamers, and content creators have already had a chance to try out what Valve has to offer. For example, smooya had hit 1,000,000,000 total views on his latest CS2 stream!

Here, we will look closer at new features, stream clips, and a few funny bugs players encountered while playing CS2. Also, we will find out how CS:GO community reacted to the announcement of Counter-Strike 2 launching this very summer.

Counter-Strike 2 New Features

When Valve announced Counter-Strike 2 yesterday, they had already shown the most significant changes to our beloved game, including reworked smokes, new graphics and maps, and no-tick-rate gameplay. You can find out more about these changes here .

However, since the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test launched, more new features have been revealed by pro players streaming the gameplay. Currently, the Limited Test only offers a Deathmatch Mode and 5×5 Unranked Mode on de_dust2 for players lucky enough to get an invitation.

Counter-Strike 2 has a redesigned main menu and developer console.

In Counter-Strike 2, developers added a new sound of dropping and picking up C4. It is now more distinct.

Smooya showed the new pre-match load screen, which displays the team’s characters with different weapons, and destroyed bots in his first-ever played round of Counter-Strike 2.

In Counter-Strike 2, training grenades are on a whole new level. Now, on a training server, you will see pre-throw trajectories of the nade while aiming, and also the game will show you where is it landing in real time after the throw.

Legs! You will be able to see your legs! Previously, when you looked down in-game, there were no legs of your character’s model visible, and this is about to change in Counter-Strike 2.

Let’s Keep Going

Another satisfying feature coming In Counter-Strike 2 is the permanent consistency of jump throws. No more binds!

In CS2 jump throws are possible and consistent without a bind, therefore there is no jump throw bind. Try jump throws and let us know what you think.

Also, users found models of two new knives: Twinblade and Kukri. So exciting!

Here is what the model of the Kukri knife style looks like. The Kukri is a short dagger with a contrasting recurve in its blade that originated in Nepal. It is used as a melee weapon and a standard cutting instrument across most of South Asia.

And here’s the screenshot showing the model of the Twinblade knife. We bet that this knife will be extremely popular once it is released, thus extremely expensive.

Although Valve has not yet announced that new knives are coming to Counter-Strike 2, it is more than likely that we will get to see them in-game in the future.

2 entirely new knife models have been found in the CS 2 beta files 👀

Keep Scrolling

Zeus now has an inspecting animation, meaning we might get Zeus skins in the future. Is anyone as hyped up about it as we are?

The Zeus being inspectable in #counterstrike2 can only mean one thing.

Explaining your 200 IQ strategies will become much easier, as in Counter-Strike 2, you will be able to draw on the map, like in DOTA 2.

New radio announcements are coming to Counter-Strike 2 in male and female voices.

Looks like we're getting new @CounterStrike 2 radio announcers.

Currently unused (as far as I am aware not in beta pls fix)

The sounds of many weapons have been changed. Check out the new sound of the AWP’s scope, for example.

Some other new features include:

  • There will be no skyboxes on maps, meaning grenades will no longer bounce back by hitting an “invisible barrier” in the sky. You will be able to throw them however you like.
  • Aminated profile pictures will now work in Counter-Strike 2 as well, you will be able to see them in the HUD.

As of now, these are all new features of the new game apart from the one’s Valve described on the Counter-Strike 2 website. As the launch date approaches, we are sure to hear more from the developers.

Counter-Strike 2 First Highlights

n0thing did a master class on nailing the round with the new smoke mechanics in mind.

Pimp was onto something showing an incredible strategy for Counter-Strike 2, but a series of unfortunate events led to this clip.

Counter-Strike 2 First Bugs

In one of the rounds of the new Counter-Strike 2, smooya’s knife caught fire! This is surely a bug, but hey, um, Valve… could this become a feature?

We are unsure what happened here, but it is an amusing bug. Imagine a game mode with AWP shooting with the speed of a Negev, that would be hilarious.

Community Reactions to Counter-Strike 2 First Gameplay

A FaZe Clan player, Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken, posted his impressions on Counter-Strike 2 on his Twitter account after actually playing the game. He enjoyed the new graphics, open skyboxes, and new smokes and Molotov mechanics.

The open skybox's and the new smokes are going to bring a new depth competitively and help the game evolve. The new smokes and molotovs are a big improvement, better visibility for both, almost entirely removing the ability to 1-way either one. Well done @CounterStrike 😊

Streamer TimTheTatman also encountered a firing glitch while testing Counter-Strike 2. Complexity shared a clip from his stream.
